Man charged with murder after stepfather’s body found in caravan in Coobulture storage facility
Caboolture man Gavin Rawls, 47, has been charged with the alleged murder of his stepfather, Michael Haggerty, 60, last Sunday.
Heggerty’s partner discovered his body in a caravan parked at National Storage, a commercial storage facility on Morayfield Rd in Coobulture, at around 11.45am
“The man is said to have been attacked and moved into the caravan earlier that day,” Queensland Police said.

Hegerty owned the caravan parked at National Storage and it was alleged the two men had been arguing about it for some time, 7NEWS understands. Rolls, who makes his money selling second-hand goods, put the caravan up for sale last month.
Queensland Police Detective Inspector David Harbison said the alleged dispute was “over something trivial in our view”.
“We know both men were at this facility earlier Sunday morning,” Harbison said.
Shortly after 10am, when police allege Rawls killed Hagerty, Rawls fled Queensland and went to Ballina, in northern New South Wales.
Hagerty’s partner called the police when Hagerty failed to return home – she went to the warehouse to check on him and found him dead inside the caravan.
Police tracked Rawls down to a motel in Ballina on Thursday morning.
He was arrested and charged with murder (DV) and made his first appearance at Ballina Local Court that day for extradition proceedings.
Rawls was then returned to the Pine Rivers Watch House in Queensland.
He faced his murder charge in Caboolture Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
