Previous Amazon Prime Day Dates
Ever since Amazon launched its first Prime Day sale in 2015, the company has (mostly) planned the event around the same time of year. In fact, outside of the last few years when the dates were pushed back by the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon has historically tended to start the sale sometime in the middle of the July fortnight.
Here are all the previous Amazon Prime Day dates:
- First day 2015: July 15
- First Day 2016: July 12
- Prime Day 2017: July 11 to 12
- First day 2018: July 16 to 17
- First day 2019: July 15 to 16
- Prime Day 2020: October 13 to 14
- Prime Day 2021: June 21 to 22
- Prime Day 2022: July 12 to 13
- Early Access Main Sale 2022: October 11-12
- Prime Day 2023: July 11 to 12
- Prime Big Deal Days 2023: 10 to 11 October
As you can see, Prime Day was pretty much locked into an early to mid-July schedule for its first five years before the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 pandemic caused the company to delay the sale until the fall of that year. Then in 2021, Amazon was quick to move it forward once more on the calendar, launching the event in the uncharacteristic June slot.
For 2022, Amazon moved the event back to its usual July location, starting on July 12, though the October slot was used for the Prime Early Access Sale, marking the first time the company hosted two Prime Day-like sales in one year . Amazon is following that pattern for 2023 with a July Prime Day, followed by a second Prime Day of sorts in October with the company’s Prime Big Deal Days event. With a July 2024 date already confirmed, we’ll be keeping our eyes open for any news regarding a second event this fall.
